Proud to be Conservative. Proud to be Canadian

Thank you Prime Minister Stephen Harper. You are restoring my faith in the Canadian government as well as the pride in my country that the Liberals had eroded over the last decade. I was proud to be a Conservative supporter and proud to be Canadian when I heard the news that the Prime Minister had travelled to Afghanistan to visit the troops there.

This was his first trip abroad and he chose to visit Canadians who are doing the most dangerous and difficult work in Canada's name. His first trip abroad wasn't to schmooze with George Bush or to hob-nob with Bono at a feel good climate summit to boost his image. His first trip was to a country where his personal safety is at risk. Why did he do this? He did this because he feels the mission is important and will do what he can to make sure the mission is a success. The Prime Minister is leading by example. What a refreshing change.

Excellent post,

Man, something that a Canadian Prime Minister has done that can bring about a feeling of Pride?
An accomplishment that has been long overdue.

Er, those liberals you despise got us there in the first place. Just an FYI.

Yep, and I have never critisized them for it, even for partisan gains. The Liberal government wasn't all bad, just mostly bad.

Were you proud to be a Canadian when Chretien visited there, too?

Yes I was, even when he wore his helmet backwards. I disagreed with Chretien on other elements of his foreign policy, but he wasn't an isolationists, as most "progressives" are today. We are citizens of the world and we should start acting like it once more.

Thank god you're sensible most of the time. Some of the other Blogging Tories are getting a bit "Mouth Around the Cock"ish.

At least this year on November 11th, I will have more pride when Prime Minister Harper represents us.

From the start the LIEberals have shown disrespect to our Canadian Soldiers by the way they treated them. They cut the budget - as in healthcare - just to balance the budget. I was told the LIEberal Minister of Defense did not even trust the Sea King helichopter to go from our ship to another - he used an American one instead - boy, that really boosted moral.

Anyway, I am proud of the Conservitaves and their support of our troops.

Is it true that Chretien: "... even when he wore his helmet backwards." I'd love to see that pictuure.

Finally my chest is bursting with pride at being Canadian. This is something that never seemed to happen when the Liberals were running the show.

And it's a good thing too, what with our health care system...

Be assured PM Harper was in no danger at anytime.

Be aware that Afghanistan supplies 90 percent of world's cocaine supply and our Canadian soldiers have been committed to rebuilding their infrastructure when our own aboriginals are being threatened with extinction without basic clean water supply?

Be aware that an oil pipeline is slated to go through that country an 'business opportunities' abound in region whereas they are falling apart here.

Perhaps informed Canadians would not applaud this corrupt theater of war if they knew the real reasons and motives for going into the country. If we want to proclaim democracy and the value of voting we had better ensure that our own vote had import.

The LIEBERALS and the conservatives in last minority government agreed to this theater of war to which they are committing us (without our approval, no debate on floor) for 10 - 20 years.

The first leader to go to the front lines with our men and women in uniform can be lauded as 'brave'. Not before.

Even the Americans are now conceding they have no role in a "civil war" and we would follow them down this path without a debate on floor?

Our youth should not be made as expendible as the grass in pursuit of illicit business opportunities.

RECALL THE TROOPS.
IN A CIVILIZED DEMOCRACY WE DISCUSS, DEBATE AND DECIDE
OF COURSE WE DO>

STAND UP FOR CANADA
STAND UP FOR CANADIAN FAMILIES AND OUR MILITARY
WE NEED THEM TO ATTEND TO ATROCIOUS CONDITIONS ON OUR OWN SOIL.

Clown party of Canada. Just so you know. It was my experience while in the military that it didn't matter who was in power, Conservative or Liberal, They were both more than willing to cut our budget and screw us over for the sake of some votes. If you're in the Canadian Forces and a politician tells you the colour of your own eyes check a mirror, because you're probably being lied to. Incidently the story about the Sea King, while it may likely be true about the minister, is true about Chretian. Just thought you'd all like to know.
