I'm with Sheila Copps on this!

"No one can argue that when it comes to murder rates, Mexico is more deadly than Canada. But the same can be said of many foreign destinations. You are more than three times as likely to be murdered in the United States yet no one in his or her right mind would call for an American travel boycott."

"Ignore the media pileup and you will enjoy a great trip. And if John Crosbie is reading this, don't forget to pass me the tequila, Sheila."

If you saty out of cities with majority black populations in the US you are very safe.

Sorry, not racism, just statistics.

It is true, most of America is safer than Europe, but a few cities are less safe than the Middle East.

If you do goto the united states look at those area's with a high conentration of black people they have third world like conditions. Too bad that rich people had to gentrify themselves away from the people they exploit.
Oh in addition if you want to be safe in the united states dont eat the local vegatation(Mcdonalds) and dont drink the polluted water.
Lets enlighten ourselves and think about harm in other forms.

Anonymous 1- You are right.

Anonymous 2- Ditto.

Anonymous 3- Do you know what the word "gentrify" means? Rich people did not "gentrify themselves away," that is the opposite of the meaning of the word. Gentrification involves the bringing in of physical redevelopment of a community, and most often it requires and involves the coexistence of many races in order to succeed. Gentrification has positive results for communities, but my guess is that you are not American and do not know this. Additionally, you are probably completely unaware that most minority communities, especially the black communities, oppose gentrification because they believe it destroys their culture. So, when you claim that "rich people" are the problem, you are completely misguided.

And what is enlightened about what you wrote? American water is as clean as Canadian water, and in many instances, cleaner, as I don't recall any of our Native American reservations complaining about substandard water treatment facilities. As for McDonalds, shut up. They are all over Canada, and don't even get me started on Tim Horton's.

Oh, and if you are concerned about water, most englightened people know not to drink the water in Mexico. So, it would seem there is harm in all forms there.

"Gentrification, or more specifically urban gentrification, is a process in which low-cost, physically deteriorated neighborhoods experience physical renovation and an increase in property values, along with an influx of wealthier residents who typically replace the prior residents. The process often returns decaying parts of a city to the middle-class, economically viable neighborhoods they were originally built as."
The poor people are left to rott on the the street because of the redevlopment of area's which have a higher property value that the poor people cant pay.
How about gated communites?
The flight of the middle class to suburbubia.
I have a website of natural and man-made structures seperating different cultural's and classes and econmic classes.

American water is clean because most of it comes from canada. And capitalist want to come to canada to exploit our resources and pollute our waters.
We all know that The U.S.A is the land of the fat. 70% of the crops you grow are fed to animals, not to forget to mention the waste of all of this food resources.
It's incrdibly easy in this day to feed the whole world we just need to have protien grown from soy rather then feeding it to cattle so we could have tasty burgers.

Wait, Sheila Copps said something clear, reasonable, and funny and wasn't made a laughing stock?

What is my country coming to?

As well, I haven't visited the States in the last several years, and I don't think the crime rate is the reason why. Paranoia rate yes, crime rate no.

Although the fact that people might have guns in their house/car/coat does creep me out a bit.

Oh, by the way, hi! Nice blog.
